Dog Commands
We use the same words in training for each dog. Here is a glossary of words and their meanings, so you can know what your puppy/dog understands when you use the commands with them.
Bronze Commands

- their own personal name
- used to get their attention
- one of the most important commands for puppies to know
- puppy makes eye contact
- this aids in helping puppy focus when needed, minimizing the distractions (producing greater success)
- let's puppy know that she has done something well
- this is often paired with a clicker and treat
- this is not up for debate
- whatever puppy is doing is now off limits
Silver Commands
In combination with what puppy learned in Bronze, they will also know:
Sit
- Puppy will sit on her behind
- Pup will sit on command, anywhere, anytime
- Puppy will come to you, without any specific position in the end (sitting or standing)
- Puppy will lay down, anywhere, anytime
- This signals to the puppy that work time is over and they have free time
- Puppy will stop barking, whining or howling
- This is the command to start to move
- It let's puppy know that change is coming
- Puppy will know it's time to eliminate and do their potty
- Puppy will wait for human to go through the doorway first
Gold Commands
In combination with what puppy learned in Bronze and Silver, they will also know:
Crate
In combination with what puppy learned in Bronze and Silver, they will also know:
Crate
- The is the equivalent of telling your puppy to go to her room
- The crate must be available and open
- Puppy will know that they are to go to the available mat and wait there
- Puppy is to take herself off of whatever she is on and put her feet back on the floor
- Use this command when puppy is jumping
- Reminder: Off is not the same as Down
Platinum Commands
In combination with what puppy learned in Bronze, Silver and Gold, they will also know:
Leave It
In combination with what puppy learned in Bronze, Silver and Gold, they will also know:
Leave It
- Stop touching, mouthing or taking what she has intended to take
- Puppy will know that they need to stay where they are
- Each puppy will be able to do this at various lengths of time.
